At Your Bank

You have several options for paying your Direct Energy Regulated Services bill through your bank:

 At Your Bank Branch:

If you choose to pay your bill at the local branch of your bank you will need to register Direct Energy Regulated Services as a payee. You will need to bring your bill with you to do this, but shouldn't need to present your bill every time you go to your bank to pay.

Online Banking:

You will need to set up Direct Energy Regulated Services as a payee in your personal online banking account to pay online. For this you will need your 12-digit DERS account number so that your payment goes to the right place.

Telephone Banking:

Some banks offer a telephone payment service, an automated system that allows you to pay your bills at any time. If you choose to pay over the phone using this service, you will need to set up Direct Energy Regulated Services as a payee. To do this you will need your 12-digit account number, which you may need to enter (partially or in full) each subsequent time that you make a payment over the phone.

ATM:

You may be able to pay your bill at an ATM. However, you will need to have already registered Direct Energy Regulated Services as a payee (online, at your branch, or through telephone banking). You should have your 12-digit account number with you.

Recurring Payment Plan

The recurring payment option authorizes the amount on your Direct Energy Regulated Services bill to be automatically debited from your bank account on the night of the due date. This means that you don't pay late fees, and saves you the time of paying your bill. However, you must be certain that you will always have enough money in your account to pay your bill (or have bank-approved overdraft protection), or you may be charged insufficient funds charges.

To sign up for the recurring payment plan you need to first print out and complete the application form. You can either fax or mail the completed form, which should be sent with a blank cheque marked 'VOID'. The fax number for signing up for the recurring payment plan is (877) 420-3777. The mailing address is:

Recurring Payment Plan
Direct Energy Regulated Services
PO Box 1520, 639 5 Ave SW
Calgary, AB, T2P 5R6

You can also email the application to [email protected].

You will continue to receive a monthly bill even once on the recurring payment plan. After sending in your application you should continue paying your bill as usual until you see a note on your bill stating that the amount will be automatically withdrawn from your account on a specified date. You need to notify Direct Energy Regulated Services in writing at least 10 days before the preauthorized debit date of any changes to your account (i.e. change in your banking information or you decide to leave the program).

By Mail

You should allow 7 to 10 days for a payment by mail to arrive and be processed by Direct Energy Regulated Services. Your cheque or money order payment should be addressed to "Direct Energy Regulated Services", and be sent to:

Direct Energy Regulated Services
PO Box 1520, 639 5th Ave SW
Calgary, AB T2P 5R6

Don't forget to mail the stub at the bottom of your bill with your cheque or money order.

epost

If you sign up for Canada Post's epost service you can receive, store (for up to seven years), and pay your bill in the same spot. You can sign up for epost directly through Canada Post's website.

Credit Card

Direct Energy Regulated Services accepts Visa or MasterCard payment on its online automatic systems. To pay by credit card, log in to your personal online account, or contact customer service at 1-866-420-3174.
