What do you need to do when you want to move your existing account at Union Gas? Follow these steps:

Notify Union Gas

Log in to your Union Gas MyAccount and submit a Moving form application. You will need to provide

  • Your new address
  • Your moving date
  • Registration information for MyAccount if this is your first time logging on (14-digit Union Gas account number, phone number, email address)

You should do this at least three business days before the date of your move. You should call Union Gas's Customer Service Line at 1-888-774-3111 (open Monday to Friday except holidays from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.) if you need to move your account in less than three business days.

Your Union Gas account is tied to your property, so changing properties means that you stop service at your old property and start service at your new one. Union Gas charges a $35 (plus tax) transfer fee when you move. If you still own your old home but are moving into a new one, you will have to request to start a second service with Union Gas, and you will have two accounts until you sell your old property. You can close an account at no cost. Find out how to stop your Union Gas service

Moving Day

On the day of your move, a representative from Union Gas will come to take a final meter reading for your old property. Union Gas will also read the meter for the previous occupant of your new property. If the gas connection has not been disconnected, you do not need to be home for this meter reading. However, if the gas connection of your new home has been interrupted, Union Gas will need to enter your home to restore service and inspect your natural gas appliances.

Gas Rate Changes

If you purchase your natural gas from Union Gas Ltd., you will be charged rates that are regulated by the Ontario Energy Board (OEB). You can find out more about Ontario regulated natural gas rates if you are interested. Union Gas Ltd. regulated rates do vary somewhat depending on which area of its service area you live.
