With their emphasis on transparency and accountability, along with attractive introductory pricing, customers looking to switch energy suppliers would do well by checking out ATCOenergy's offers. While some customers may be wary about signing on with a new company, the retailer comes backed by the utility ATCO, which has over 50 years of experience in energy in Alberta.

ATCOenergy Energy Value Bundles
ATCOenergy is currently offering additional rewards for customers who sign up for electricity and gas with the provider. Incentives include:
- 50% reduction on monthly administration charges ($7/month - $3.50 each Site - for both electricity and gas Sites).
- $50 sign up incentive for the 1-year Energy Value Bundle
- $100 sign up incentive for the 3 or 5 year Energy Value Bundles
ATCOenergy Build Your Own Plan
ATCOenergy also offers the possibility of making your own, customized plan for your energy supply. Customized plans start with a $25 sign-up incentive, and a $25 anniversary credit for every year that you stay with the plan. Choose the fuel (electricity, natural gas, or both), the rate type (fixed or variable), and the percentage of your electricity use that you would like to offset (0%, 25% or 100%).
ATCOenergy Green Energy
ATCOenergy offers the option of offsetting a percentage (either 25% or 100%) of your energy use with renewable energy credits (REC) produced by renewable energy generation. This involves paying a small premium (0.05¢ per kWh for 25%, 0.2¢ per kWh for 100%) on your electricity rate.
About ATCOenergy
ATCOenergy is owned by the utility company ATCO (find more information about ATCO Electric and ATCO Gas in our utility profile pages). This marks a return to the energy retail business for the company, which had sold its regulated rate client base to Direct Energy Regulated Services in 2001.
ATCOenergy Terms and Conditions
We like that ATCOenergy's terms and conditions are clear and relatively easy to read. While you should always read through the terms and conditions of any plans you are interested in yourself, here are some of the highlights:
- Cancellation fees: ATCOenergy charges no cancellation fees or early exit fees. To cancel without penalty, you must provide fifteen (15) days notice, by contacting ATCOenergy by phone, fax, mail, or through the ATCOenergy online portal.
- Security deposits: ATCOenergy may require a credit history check before starting service. If ATCOenergy requires you to pay a security deposit, you must pay it within seven days of receiving a request
- Late payment: ATCOenergy charges a 1.5% per month (19.56% per year) late payment charge on all overdue amounts calculated and compounded monthly from thirty (30) days after the date of the invoice until the date that payment is received in full.
- Moving: you must provide ATCOenergy at least 45 days' notice of an upcoming move to ensure service without interruption
- Automatic renewal: ATCOenergy may send you an automatic renewal notice at least thirty days before the expiration of your current plan. If you were paying a guaranteed rate, the new guaranteed price will be ATCO’s prevailing price for the natural gas, electricity or both, as applicable, as of the date of renewal
