Sponsor Energy is a competitive energy retailer in Alberta that focuses on social responsibility and donates half of its profits to local charities.

About Sponsor Energy

Sponsor Energy sells electricity to residential, small business, and non-profit customers, as well as commercial and industrial customers, and sells natural gas to commercial/industrial customers. The company, whose motto is "Use your POWER for GOOD", promotes social responsibility by profit sharing with local charities throughout Alberta. Sponsor Energy customers can choose to which charity 50% of the profits made on their energy consumption will be donated.

Service Area

Sponsor Energy operates throughout the province, including Calgary, Edmonton, Red Deer, Lethbridge, and the ATCO Electric and FortisAlberta service territories. Like all energy retailers they do not operate in rural electrification association (REA) zones, or in the City of Medicine Hat. Sponsor Energy also offers natural gas supply in British Columbia.

History

Sponsor Energy was founded by Carolyn Martin in Calgary in 2012. The company launched in Edmonton in March 2013. In June 2013 Sponsor Energy started selling gas for commercial clients after entering into a partnership with AltaGas Utilities.
