ENMAX Power Corporation

ENMAX Power Corporation is a subsidiary company of ENMAX Corporation, and is the owner and operator of the electricity distribution and transmission network in and around Calgary. It is also the regulated rate option provider for Calgary, Cardston, Crowsnest Pass, Fort Macleod, Ponoka, and Red Deer.

Service Area

ENMAX Power Corporation owns, operates, and maintains the electricity wires for Calgary and the surrounding area. ENMAX Power Corporation provides the regulated rate for Calgary and five other Alberta towns, but is not the wire services provider outside of Calgary.

Services Available

In Calgary, along with ensuring electricity distribution, transmission, and regulated retail sales, ENMAX Power Corporation reads and maintains electricity meters. ENMAX usually reads meters once a month, but you can submit a meter reading to ENMAX if you wish.

If you are a resident of Cardston, Crowsnest Pass, Fort Macleod, Ponoka, or Red Deer, your municipality owns the electricity distribution system in your area, and is responsible for maintaining your meter. However, you can still submit your meter readings through ENMAX (see contact information below).

History

ENMAX Power Corporation was created in 1998, when the City of Calgary made what was then known as the City of Calgary Electric System into a wholly owned subsidiary. It was one of three companies created at this time; the ENMAX Corporation replaced the City of Calgary Electric System, with the ENMAX Power Corporation and ENMAX Energy Corporation, an affiliated retailer, as subsidiary companies.
