Basic Information

enbridge gas bill example first page

Account holder name and address: If it is your name on the Enbridge account, the bill will be addressed to you, with your mailing address.

Billing Date, Billing Period, and Bill Number: The Billing Date is the date that Enbridge printed and mailed your bill. The Billing Period tells you the dates for which you are being charged for your gas consumption. Each bill receives a unique Bill Number: you may need to tell Enbridge this number if you have a question about your bill.

Account Number: This number should feature prominently on your bill, and is important to have with you should you need to contact Enbridge.

Service Address: This is the address for the property that receives natural gas and where the gas meter is located.

Summary of All Charges

Here you will find the total amounts of your charges for the month. These will include the Balance from the Previous Bill, Payment Received (including the date payment was received) and Balance Forward & Past Due (which indicates what you have left over to pay from last month's bill). This section will also indicate how much you have to pay for your natural gas.

If you are on the budget billing payment plan, this figure will be called the BBP Installment. If you are not on the plan, you will see it as Charges for Natural Gas.

You may also have a line for Charges From Other Companies. These are charges from using any products or services from another company participating in the Enbridge Billing Service (e.g. water heater rental, furnace maintenance, etc).

Finally, you may see a line for Other Enbridge Charges. This section is typically seen by new customers, for their security deposit or new account charge. You will see a more in-depth breakdown of these charges in the following pages.

Amount due now: Your bill is due as soon as you receive it. In order to avoid late payment fees, Enbridge must receive it before the Late Payment Due Date, which is usually about 20 days after the billing date. Enbridge charges 1.5% per month late payment fee (19.95% per annum). If you decide to pay by mail or at the bank, you should allow one week for your payment to reach Enbridge offices. If you are on the Pre-Authorized Payment Plan, you will see a Payment Withdrawal Date, which indicates the date that the bill amount will be automatically withdrawn from your bank account. If you see a CR next to the amount due it means that you have a credit balance, and do not need to make a payment at this period.

Enbridge Messages

You will also find important communication information from Enbridge. These include the Emergency Number (which you should call if you smell gas, notice a damaged pipeline, or suspect carbon monoxide leakage), the Customer Service contact information (you can also find this information on our contact Enbridge page).
